Add an M3U playlist on iPhone or iPad

Import an M3U playlist link or local file in SageIPTV for iOS, then troubleshoot empty playlists and common import errors.

Use the URL option for a direct M3U playlist link, or File for a playlist stored on your device. A playlist is a list of stream addresses; it does not provide access to a service by itself.

Before you start

Install SageIPTV for iPhone or iPad and obtain a playlist you are authorized to use. Your source should give you a direct playlist link or an M3U file. A website address or a video player page is not the same as a playlist.

If you received a server address, username, and password, follow the Xtream Codes setup guide instead.

Import a local M3U file

  1. Save your M3U playlist somewhere you can select in the iOS Files picker.
  2. Add a playlist and select File. Choose the saved M3U file and enter a name.
  3. Complete the import, then open the playlist to browse its categories and channels.

A local playlist stores stream addresses. Playback still needs a working internet connection when those addresses point to online streams.

If the import fails

  • Authentication or expired account: check the account or personalized playlist link with your content provider.
  • HTTP 404: confirm the complete address, including the port and path.
  • Invalid or empty playlist: the link may return a web page, an error, or a file without usable channel entries. Ask for a direct M3U export.
  • Connection or timeout: check your network and try again. A provider outage must be resolved by the provider.

Once channels work, use the EPG guide to add program information.
